£5.4m cash injection for apprenticeship monitoring

In March 2017, when the ESFA first published the list of providers on the apprenticeship register there were a few raised eyebrows to say the least. Hundreds of companies, some new to the whole process, were successful giving them unlimited access to apprenticeship funding.

Eighteen months on, and with some new providers struggling, the DfE has finally listened to concerns raised by Ofsted with a £5.4m cash injection to be spent on monitoring visits to all new providers, followed by a full inspection within a year if insufficient progress has been found.
